This is a hawker food heaven with at 50 over hawker stalls selling everything you want to eat, including pork items. This big hawker food court is divided into two areas, the indoor (but non-air conditioned) area that operates in the day and the open air area that opens from evening onwards.
It is clean and no touting at all. When you choose a table to sit, a staff member will put a box of tissue to indicate that the table is taken. Take note of your table number and go on a spree ordering food from the stalls and they will bring it to your table. No need for standing at the stall waiting for the uncle to cook and bringing it back to your table yourself.
For the night section, the beer ladies will come round to ask if you want to order but it isn't sleazy at all. There are many families with young children who go there as well. Once a table of patrons leave, an army of cleaners will swoop in and clear the plates and wipe the table. There is also a staff member that goes on patrol with his metal tongs picking up stray tissue, chopstick wrapper and other small rubbish that blows off the table. When it rains, some awning which you didn't notice were there at all will start to unroll and shelter the tables. There is also an aunty pushing a trolley selling keropok that will roll it through the seating area. During football match nights, the matches are screened on the large TV screens. It opens till late so you can always go downstairs from the hotel to order a plate of satay or oyster omelette.
Below are a collection of photos of everything we have ever ordered from the food court. Some of which we didn't take note of the prices. Cash only. And some of the cash you get back as change may be grubby.
Food Pictures! (More will be updated along the way as I go through my albums)
- Chicken satay (sold in sets of 10 sticks and comes with ketupat, cucumber, onions and very evil innocent looking green chilli that is very spicy).
- ABC double boiled soup with pork ribs
- Fried wild boar meat (80K). Very unique taste but perhaps deep frying it in this way is not the best way to cook it. You can let them know your preferred cooking method but we can't really speak Bahasa and ended up with this fried version.
- Oyster Omelette Stall which we always dabao back to the hotel room for a snack. You can choose from regular oysters that are tiny (32K) or pay more for larger ones (42K). They also have prawn omelette.
- Mixed fruit bowl with ice cream (Mar 2024)
- Wanton Soup - 32K (Mar 2024)
- Some BBQ thingy that The Other Human ordered. (Mar 2024)
- Sup ayam from the Indo store cos' my double boiled soup sold out (Mar 2024)
- Some kind of mixed fruit bowl from the dessert stall next to the drink stall at the indoor section of the food court. The dessert stall is the only stall from the indoor section that is opened during the night. (Mar 2024)
- Char kway teow and nasi kuning from daytime indoor section (Mar 2024). The Other Human loves the nasi kuning here.
